Lift High the Cross Palm Sunday, 25 March 6pm at St John's
A Meditation on the Passion using a sequence of hymns, anthems, readings and responses, drawing on the texts of Lent, Holy Week and Easter. It is an opportunity to spend time in prayer, listen to and participate in the music that is especially selected to bring us into a deeper understanding and closer relationship with God.
Restoring the Memorial to George Wallace Jackson, Sherwood Foresters
Proposal for the Memorial Service followed by the Rededication of the Memorial.
Following the hard work of our Sculptor Phil Neal, generous giving by Organisations, Individuals and relatives I am pleased to say that we can confidently go forward and plan for March 17th 2018 to be the date for this unique event to take place.
Proposed outline of the service Timetable for March 17th
12.00 midday Memorial Service in St John’s Church, Church Lane, Carlton in Lindrick S81 9EG. Flag bearers of Organisations should assemble outside the main door of the Church not later than 11.45am. Would Organisations wishing to be represented please contact Maurice Stokes via E Mail or telephone I am delighted to tell you that among our guests will be Sir John Peace, Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire, Lady Peace, John Mann MP, Chair and Carlton Parish Councillors.
12.45pm Led by flag bearers congregation moves to the memorial in the Churchyard.
1.00pm Dedication of the Memorial led by The Right Reverend Tony Porter Bishop of Sherwood assisted by Rev Mark Orr, Rector of St John’s. Those not able to attend Church will be very welcome to join us for the dedication, a band will play and the last post sounded. Arrangements may change due to numbers responding and weather.
